Cobram Estate has launched a subscription service where customers can build their bundles, choose the delivery frequency, and have them delivered right to the door.
Each customer's first order comes with a reusable ceramic bottle and three pouches of extra virgin olive oil.
The company said since there's no need to bring home heavy tins or bottles, it is more cost-effective and convenient than buying from the supermarket. In addition, the empty pouches can be put in a return envelope for recycling.
Despite several initiatives Cobram Estate introduced to its operations to reduce its carbon footprint, CEO Leandro Ravetti said transport and packaging challenges have remained; this is why the company opted to shift to pouches and reusable bottles.
Once the pouches reach their end-of-life, they are processed and repurposed by Replas – one of the country's leading manufacturers of recycled plastic – and turned into sustainable products for construction and other industries.
"These pouches lower the carbon footprint considerably," Ravetti concluded. "They’re lighter, more compact and can be recycled into Australian-made materials that offer a responsible, sustainable alternative to traditional timber, concrete and virgin plastics."
